ABOUT TRITIUM
Utilising tritium, a watch dial will remain luminous without charge for a period that well exceeds other luminous materials. As this technology requires no external light source to activate its own luminescence, it is the perfect solution for watches and equipment that need to deliver legibility in low light tactical conditions.
Pure tritium gas is sealed in individual mineral glass tubes. The interior walls are coated with a luminescent material that gives off cold light when activated by the electrons emitted by the tritium.
The tubes are attached to the hands and dial in a secure manner that precludes any risk of breakage. While some luminous sources may shine brighter initially, note that they will fade away whilst a watch powered by GTLS will continue to light indefinitely.
*Tritium gas has a half life of over 12 years, by which time the luminous properties will have diminished.
This technology is completely safe and does not expose the wearer to any undue risk. Nonetheless the application of Tritium tubes into watches is a precise and skilled exercise.
